Who hates good looking hair? I'm sure nobody hates beautiful hair whether long, short or shaved. The big question is; How healthy are you? Why? Because good hair maintenance and growth begins with your health and wellness efforts. Your body is the house and hair is part of what lives in that house.

HOW MANY NCHES DOES A HEALTHY PERSON'S HAIR GROW IN A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR?

On average, human hair grows about 6 nches which is about 15cm per year. On a monthly estimate, that is about 0.5 nches or 1.25cm. Some people even get 4 - 5 nches and others 7 - 8 nches, so it depends on on factors that I'll list below in this article. 

This growth and pace depends on various factors like genetics, Stress, Health and diet. Good hair maintenance and care contributes too. Let's dig deep into these factors;

  1. GENETICS; This is one major factor which contributes to hair growth. If your hair grows so slow, just know it could be genetically connected. Genetics makes hair grow very slow for some people. Observe your other family members to be sure. Sometimes you could be exceptional and find yourself with long hair in a family line of people with short hair.
  2. POOR NUTRITION; If your diet has low or no proteins, iron, vitamin D, Zinc, Bioten and Omega 3 then your hair is likely to have a very slow growth pace.
  3. STRESS; Lots of stress increases cortisol which gets hair into resting phase and this causes hair breakage and slower growth.
  4. DAMAGE FROM HEAT AND CHEMICALS; Excessive blowdry and dying plus using relaxers a lot causes slow growth.
  5. TIGHT HAIRSTYLES; When hair is styled using very tight lines or braids causes hair thinning and very slow growth.
  6. DIRTY OR BLOCKED SCALP; Blocked follicles gives stress to new hair causing very slow growth.
  7. AGE; As you get older your hair grows more slowly.
  8. LACK OF MOISTURE; Dry hair breaks easily preventing growth.
